Discover the Allied Health Program for You
Allied Health offers a variety of Associate Degrees, Certificates and courses to assist you on a career path in Health Informatin Technology and Radiologic Technology. Whether you are looking to advance in your current career, start your career, or begin on a path to a four-year degree, we offer programs to lead you in the right direction for a career in health.
The primary mission of the Bakersfield College Allied Health Department is to offer academic and vocational education to prepare men and women for careers in health occupations.
Through our commitment to excellence we will be able to improve and advance the health and welfare of our community by preparing excellent, competent, safe, healthcare professionals.
In addition, students may complete the pre-requisites for the Stanford University Medical Center's Primary Care Associate/Physician's Assistant program.
Priority Placement for Veterans
For Radiologic Technology, if the program is receiving Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding, in accordance with the Jobs for Veterans Act (JVA), priority will be given to applicants with proof of military, naval, or air service and discharge under conditions other than dishonorable; students must work with Admissions and Records to determine eligibility. An eligible spouse or widow(er) will also be extended this priority status with additional support of Certificate of Eligibility (C.O.E.).
How does this work in Radiologic Technology?
Since the program is impacted with more applicants than space available to train for clinical education the program maintains a waitlist. When qualified veterans apply during the regular application period they will be given priority for placement onto the waitlist.
Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Statement
In accordance with the requirements of the Civil Rights Act, Bakersfield College provides services and benefits to students regardless of race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, age, religion, marital status, medical condition or disability. The lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to administration and participation in vocational education programs.
