The Research Laboratory Technology program at Bakersfield College is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career as a laboratory technician.

The Research Laboratory Technology program gives students hands-on experience in real science labs. You will learn how to use lab equipment, follow safety rules, and practice good record keeping. Students also learn basic lab management and quality control skills. Classes are taught by experienced instructors who want to help you succeed in this fast growing and rewarding field.

What is Research Laboratory Technology?

Research Laboratory Technology, or RTEC, focuses on how labs work and how to keep them running safely and smoothly. People in this field help prepare equipment, handle samples, run tests, collect data, and keep accurate records. They work in many settings, such as medical labs, research centers, biotech companies, and government agencies. RTEC professionals need strong science skills, good organization, and clear communication.
