Pre-Law Student Requirements

Becoming a BC Pre-Law Student

Students interested in applying to the Bakersfield College Pre-Law Program must:

  1. Complete the Interest Form
  2. Meet with an Educational Advisor: Schedule and attend a meeting with an educational advisor to discuss your academic plan, career aspirations, and how the pre-law program aligns with your goals.
  3. Complete a Pre-law Application
  4. Write a 250-Word Essay: Prepare a short essay (250 words) by answering the following prompt: How has your personal background, experiences, or aspirations shaped your interest in pursuing a career in law, and how do you envision using your legal education to make a meaningful impact in your community or beyond?
  5. Complete a Student Education Plan (SEP)
  6. Attend Orientation: Participate in the pre-law program orientation to learn about program expectations, resources, and opportunities available to support your academic and professional journey.

Pre-Law Student Requirements

  • Meet with an Educational Advisor to develop an a Student Educational Plan SEP based on your selected major.
  • Attend two advising sessions with your Pre-law Educational Advisor every semester.

  • Maintain good academic standing
