Levan Humanities Review is an online journal publishing new works by emerging and
established local writers. The Review features articles, essays, book reviews, and
poetry in a variety of styles and perspectives that contribute to our ongoing understanding
of the humanities, the humanities and science, and the humanities and medicine.
Reggie Williams is Professor and Chair of Philosophy at Bakersfield College. He is
a proud alumnus of BC, CSUB and the University of Illinois, where he earned a Ph.D.
in philosophy. Reggie writes on a range of social/political issues, including poverty,
abortion, same-sex marriage, and race.
He has presented papers at Oxford University, and the University of Colorado, Boulder.
And his work has appeared in several professional philosophy journals including Utilitas,
Public Affairs Quarterly, and the Journal of Moral Philosophy.
Michael Peters is the President of St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Prior to St. John's, he was the Executice Vice President of the Council on Foreign
Relations in New York City. He has also been the Chief of Staff of the United States
Military Academy at West Point.
Dr. Mora is the Dean of St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She received her
B.A. in English and Philosophy from the University of New Mexico and her Ph.D. in
Philosophy from Yale University.
The Norman Levan Center for the Humanities is pleased to publish these scholarly and
thoughtful presentations by Paul Beckwith, Bakersfield College Professor of History,
and Michael Harvath, Bakersfield College Professor of Economics.
