Self-Paced Hybrid Course

Math Jam - Math Skill Building B99NC (Non Credit, Repeatable)

*MATH B99NC is a non-credit co-requisite support course for students enrolled in transfer-level math courses.

This is NOT a transfer-level course, nor is it for credit. This course will identify and develop specific supplementary skills students need to succeed in particular concepts fundamental to their transfer level math class. Students will receive instruction directly from faculty expert in mathematics, accompanied by highly-adaptive, skill-focused, computer-based practice and lessons. The instruction is in a flipped-classroom, emporium format. The students can decide how much directed instruction they need, in the classroom known as the Math Learning Center. The students can choose their track that best supports their transfer level math course.

Courses offered in Spring 2024 semester:

  • CRN: 30811- Math B99NC: Math Jam - Math Skill Building (Panorama Campus)
  • CRN: 31152 - Math B99NC: Math Jam - Math Skill Building (Delano Campus)

Students may only enroll in MATH B99NC if they are concurrently enrolled in at least one of the following courses:
MATH B22, MATH B22L, MATH B23, MATH B26, MATH B27, MATH B1A, MATH B1AL, MATH B1B, MATH B2, MATH B4, MATH B6A, MATH B6B, MATH B6C, MATH B6D, MATH B6E, PSYC B5, or TECM B52.

Preferred Methods of Communication

The Math Learning Center is open in-person for the Spring 2024 semester.

Math Learning Center Sign-In/Sign-Out Form

  1. To contact the Math Learning Center (In-Person) you can visit GS 8 or can call (661) 395 - 4530 during our open office hours.
  2. To contact the Math Learning Center (Virtually) it is easiest to join our current Zoom meeting of the week. If you are enrolled in the Math B99NC class, you can access the MLC by logging into Inside BC → Tools → Canvas → Courses → Homepage and join the link for the daily Zoom meeting. Once you join the meeting you can “raise your hand” or “unmute” yourself to speak with the “Host” or you can type a message in the “chat box”.
  3. You can also email the MLC staff at mathlearningcenter@bakersfieldcollege.edu if you do not need an immediate response or if you do not have the links to our Zoom meetings.

All students enrolled in the Math B99NC math course can sign into Inside BC → Tools → Canvas → Courses → Homepage and can join the link for the daily Zoom meeting for math help or if they have any questions.

"Walk-in" Tutoring

If you are interested in "walk-in" tutoring, you can come to GS 8 for in-person tutoring. It is located in General Science Room 8.

If you cannot physically come in, then enroll in the Math B99NC by emailing the MLC staff at mathlearningcenter@bakersfieldcollege.edu to receive the link to the zoom meeting.
