Graduation & Commencement

Important Update
Dear Renegades,
We are just days away from Commencement 2026, and we are so excited to celebrate with
you as you walk across the stage. In preparation for a ceremony with a record number
of graduates, we have made a minor time adjustment to ensure a more efficient ceremony.
The procession of the college’s platform party and faculty will begin at 6:45pm, shortly
followed by the procession of students. Family and friends who will be attending are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45pm
so they can cheer for you as you walk into the stadium. Please pass this information
along to your loved ones – we don’t want them to miss their chance to wave from the
stands.
Graduating from Bakersfield College is an exciting milestone! We're here to prepare you for every step, from submitting your graduation petition to crossing the stage at the Commencement Ceremony.
What's the difference?
Graduation is the process of officially completing your degree or certificate. After you submit
a graduation petition, the Office of Admissions & Records reviews your academic record
to verify that all requirements are met and your degree can be awarded.
Graduation Requirements
Commencement is the ceremony that celebrates your accomplishment. It's where you'll cross the
stage, be recognized by name, and celebrate your success with classmates, family,
and friends. Students who are approved for graduation are invited to participate.
