Students Bring Campus Questions to Pizza with the President

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the Office of the President held Pizza with the President in partnership with the Bakersfield College Student Government Association (BCSGA), to give students a direct way to raise concerns and hear from college leaders. Students received free pizza and submitted questions to a panel moderated by BCSGA President Khalfani Mackey.

President Dr. Stacy Pfluger addressed questions about elevators, seating and places to charge devices. She said BC continues to work on elevator issues and is looking for ways to add seating while construction affects available space. Vice President of Instruction Dr. Jessica Wojtysiak discussed support for STEM instruction, including the new Agriculture Sciences building and recent staffing additions.

Students also heard from college leaders about scholarships, technology, emergency procedures, and campus safety. Panelists encouraged students to share their experiences and respond to college surveys, so BC can better understand their needs.

BC Foundation Executive Director Cheryl Scott encouraged students to apply for scholarships when applications open Thursday, Oct. 1, and to stay connected with BC after graduation. For more information regarding student scholarships, please visit the Scholarships web page on the BC website.
