Sondra Keckley

Biography

Sondra Keckley is a Reference Librarian for Bakersfield College. Originally from Michigan, she graduated from Alma College in 1997 with a BA in biology, a social science group minor, and a minor in secondary education, and moved to Bakersfield to teach biology at Stockdale High School for 11 years. During that time, she earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from CSUB
in 2003. In 2008 she decided to become a librarian and was hired by Independence High School to open that school and its library from scratch. While doing so, she earned a Library Science Teaching Credential (MLIS equivalency) from FPU in 2012. After 18 years teaching at the high school level, she joined the BC family in 2015. She is very passionate about effective teaching strategies, curriculum development, and helping students and faculty achieve their goals. When not at work, she enjoys gardening and traveling.
