Katherine Kiouses

Adjunct Faculty, Music (Voice)

Biography

Katherine has a Bachelor's Degree and a California Teaching Credential from California State University, Bakersfield, and a Masters Degree in Music for Vocal Performance from California State University, Northridge. Music Education is Katherine’s true passion, having taught band and orchestra at the elementary level, as well as voice instruction at the high school level. Currently she is part of the voice faculty at Bakersfield College and California State University, Bakersfield. Katherine’s drive to bring music and opportunity to the Bakersfield community is evident as one of the Co-founder’s to The Bakersfield Recital Series (BRS). The BRS features two primary concerts a year, one to highlight a local composer every January, and a summer recital aimed to bridge the gap for young performers preparing for professional audition. Katherine’s clear vibrant tone is well suited for twentieth century art song and chamber music. She can be heard in her chamber group Duo Encarnación with voice and guitar, and often performers in local recitals.
