President’s Leader of the Year Award

Candidates for this award excelled as student leaders with a distinguished record of extraordinary leadership, service, spirit, advocacy, and involvement within the College community. Recipients will have a history of positive and significant accomplishments resulting in major contributions that enhance the quality of life at the College. 

Service Award (2)

Candidates for this award are students whose behavior embraces civic responsibility and service to the community on a campus, local, regional, national, or global level. This individual has given their time, talent, and efforts to contribute to the common good.

Renegade Spirit Award (2)

Candidates for this award are student leaders who bring spirit and enthusiasm to the Bakersfield College community through their involvement on campus.

Good Samaritan Award

Candidates for this award are students who have gone above and beyond the call of duty for public safety and community welfare for the campus at large. This student has shown their assistance with the apprehension of a criminal act and assisted with a critical incident that reflects a positive outcome for the safety of the campus. 

Most Valuable Renegade (MVR)

Candidates for this award are intercollegiate student-athletes who through their involvement at Bakersfield College have made significant contributions to the quality of life for their fellow athletes. 

Champion for Diversity Award (2)

Candidates for this award are students that continually strive to increase the awareness of social issues and inclusivity within their organization and campus community. 

Student Employee of the Year Award (2)

Candidates for this award are students who have made exceptional contributions to their office or department during the academic year.

Given annually to a Bakersfield College Faculty member who has been nominated and selected by the students. This award spotlights the College’s “super teachers”. All finalists are outstanding faculty members in their own right and represent the many, many fine faculty members who can be found in every department across the campus. (Voted upon by the student body through the BCSGA Spring General Elections.)

Outstanding Student Organization Advisor(s) Award

Candidates for this award are faculty or staff members that go above and beyond the expectations of an advisor, are an integral part of the organization, and show dedication to the mission of the organization.

Outstanding Renegade Service to Students Award (2)

Candidates for this award are Bakersfield College employees who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the overall growth and development of students; who consistently strive for excellence in their role supporting students’ academic and personal success; and who have a commitment to the improvement of the quality of student life.

BCSGA Previously Incarcerated Scholarship (Established 2019)

Candidates for this scholarship are returning students who exhibit leadership skills by engaging in the Bakersfield College community and have sought out opportunities to get involved. Given annually to one previously incarcerated student attaining the highest standards of leadership, citizenship, service, and overall accomplishments while a student attending Bakersfield College. BCSGA Single Parent Scholarship (Established 2019)

Candidates for this scholarship are students who are single-income parents exhibiting leadership skills by engaging in the Bakersfield College community and have sought out opportunities to get involved. Given annually to one single parent student attaining the highest standards of leadership, citizenship, service, and overall accomplishments while a student attending Bakersfield College. BCSGA LGBTQ+ Scholarship (Established 2020)

Candidates for this scholarship are students who self-identified as a member of the sexual and gender minority community otherwise known as the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans-identity community. Each candidate exhibits leadership skills by engaging in the Bakersfield College community and has sought out opportunities to get involved. Given annually to an LGBT+ student attaining the highest standards of leadership, citizenship, service, and overall accomplishments while a student attending Bakersfield College.
