Bakersfield College Announces New Administrative Appointees

Recently, Bakersfield College announced new appointees to three key administrative positions – Vice President of Instruction, Athletic Director, and President. Each candidate was selected after an extensive nationwide search, interview process, and public forum where staff and community members could ask questions and provide feedback. BC is proud to welcome each new addition to its leadership team and look forward to the future they will help build.

Dr. Stacey Pfluger, President of Bakersfield College

Woman wearing a blazerOn Tuesday, May 19th, KernCCD announced the appointment of Dr. Stacey Pfluger as the next President of Bakersfield College. Dr. Pfluger has an extensive background in higher education, including instruction, student services, academic programming, institutional leadership, and more. She has also served as Interim President at BC for the last year, where she has led with a strong commitment to students, staff, and the surrounding community. We would like to congratulate Dr. Pfluger on her appointment as President, and we are excited for the future of Bakersfield College under her leadership.

Dr. Jessica Wojtysiak, Vice President of Instruction

woman smilingOn Thursday, May 21st, Bakersfield College announced the appointment of Dr. Jessica Wojtysiak as the next Vice President on Instruction. Dr. Wojtysiak first joined BC in 2015 as a tenure-track professor, and has since served in other roles, including Dean of Instruction, Associate Vice President of Instruction, and Interim Vice President of Instruction. She has dedicated her career to Bakersfield College and has played an instrumental role in several programs, including Bridge to BC, the launch of BC baccalaureate degree programs, and rural initiatives – direct support for our campuses in Delano, Arvin, Wasco, and BC Southwest. We are proud to have Dr. Wojtysiak continue her career at Bakersfield College and are appreciative of her dedication to our faculty and students.

Lynn Kennedy, Athletic Director and Dean of Instruction for Kinesiology and Athletics

On Friday, May 22nd, Bakersfield College announced the appointment of Lynn Kennedy as the next Athletic Director and Dean of Instruction for Kinesiology and Athletics. Mr. Kennedy has more than 30 years of experience and leadership across NCAA Division I, II, NAIA and high school athletics. His various roles included head basketball coach, adjunct faculty, compliance director, and he also spent 11 years with the Seattle Seahawks. Bakersfield College is hosting a press conference to introduce him to the community on Tuesday, June 2nd at 10:00AM in the Renegade Athletics Complex. All students, staff and community members are welcome to attend.
