Throughout the month of March, Bakersfield College will celebrate Women’s History & More (WHAM) 2026 under the theme Rooted in Resilience: Seeds of Change, Voices of Power, a month-long series of events honoring the contributions, leadership, and impact of women in history and across the campus community.

WHAM 2026 invites students, faculty, and staff to participate in programming designed to foster belonging, leadership development, and meaningful engagement.

The official WHAM Kick-Off will take place on Tuesday, March 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Levan Center Courtyard. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend as the campus community gathers to launch a month dedicated to celebrating women’s voices and leadership.

Additional events throughout March include:

  • Queer Herstory Trivia – March 11, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Levan Center
  • Cuca Montoya: Latin American Feministas – An Artwork Presentation – March 18, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Levan Center
  • Tribal Women’s Leadership Seminar – March 19, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., CSS Room 151
  • Latinas in Business Leadership Panel (Webinar) – March 26, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

In addition, the Grace Van Dyke Bird Archives will feature a special display throughout the month on the second floor of the Main Campus Library. Students and community members are also encouraged to look ahead to April for “POTUS,” a play celebrating women in politics, coming soon to Bakersfield College.

Women’s History Month at Bakersfield College is more than a recognition of the past. It is an opportunity to highlight resilience, amplify voices, and inspire future generations of leaders within the BC community.
