The Bakersfield College community was excited to welcome back the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Caravan. The unique event connects students with representatives from universities from across the country where they can get valuable information about campus life, academic programs, athletic programs, and much more. Many students received on-site letters of acceptance, and some even received scholarship offers.

This year’s caravan took place in the Renegade Event Center last week, and more than 20 colleges and universities participated. The room was full of information booths from the various institutions, which included Coppin State University, Fisk University, Huston Tillotson University, Tuskegee University, and more. Attendees were able to get promotional materials, ask questions, get valuable information, apply, and more. The atmosphere in the room was electric as students got to explore academic opportunities and receive on-site acceptance and scholarships.

The HBCU Caravan’s return to Bakersfield College was a massive success. More than 128 BC and local high school students attended, with more than 39 student acceptance confirmations, and more than $629,000 in scholarship granted! Congratulations to all the students who received acceptance letters and scholarships - we look forward to hearing incredible stories of success as you pursue your academic dreams!
