Event Spotlight: Hispanic Heritage Month

The Bakersfield College Archives were honored to participate in the campus celebration
of Hispanic Heritage Day, held on the lawn in front of the library. The Archives proudly
showcased the rich history of the Chicano Studies Program, highlighting its lasting
impact on student empowerment and cultural education at BC. The event was a vibrant
celebration of Hispanic culture, featuring live music, delicious food, classic lowriders,
and spirited dancing. A highlight of the day was an inspirational speech by civil
rights icon Dolores Huerta, whose words energized the crowd and honored the ongoing
legacy of activism and cultural pride. The Archives were proud to support this meaningful
event, helping preserve and share the stories that shape our community.
