BC Hosting Series of Events to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Bakersfield College is hosting a series of exciting events and activities to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The festivities began on September 15th with the Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off and will continue through October 15th. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are coming together to enjoy a variety of Hispanic-themed games, crafts, food, and more.

Last week, students enjoyed a refreshing cup of Padrinos Agua Fresca while visiting the Panorama Campus – a great way to take a quick break during their busy schedules. The week continued with a competitive game of Loteria, a Hispanic-themed bingo game. Participants had the opportunity play multiple rounds, win some great prizes, and enjoy a bowl of esquites – a Mexican street food made with kernel corn.

On Thursday, students, staff, and family members gathered in the Fireside Room at the Panorama Campus to express their artistic side with Talavera Tile Painting. Tiles, paintbrushes, stencils, and paint were provided for all participants, creating a perfect atmosphere for creativity and imagination.

There are several more Hispanic Heritage Month activities and you do not want to miss them. There will be a Noche de Familia at BC’s Arvin Campus, another Talavera Tile Painting at BC’s Delano Campus, a community mural project celebrating the life of Frida Kahlo at the Panorama Campus, and more!
