BC Faculty Kris Tiner Keynote Speaker at KCMEA Fall Conference

Monday, September 22, 2025
The Kern County Music Educators Association (KCMEA) recently hosted its Fall Conference at Stockdale High School. This annual event brings together local music educators and conductors for a day of professional development, guest speakers, workshops, and more.
This year’s keynote speaker was Bakersfield College professor and Director of Jazz Studies Kris Tiner. Mr. Tiner did an amazing job addressing attendees, sharing inspirational stories and encouraging words to his fellow music educators.
The BC music faculty has a positive relationship with KCMEA and local music educators throughout Kern County. Through this strong relationship, Bakersfield College has become a ‘destination institution’ for high school students pursuing a degree in various music disciplines. We believe it is one of the best - and most affordable - options for a high-quality music program in Central California.
Congratulations to Kris Tiner for being recognized for his academic contributions at Bakersfield College and in Kern County. Thank you for representing BC well in the local music education community.
