Bakersfield College is proud to announce the appointment of Ayanna Tweedy as the college’s new Interim Athletics Director, beginning August 19. Tweedy brings with her a wealth of leadership experience, a student-centered approach, and a strong background in NCAA Division III athletics administration.

Ayanna comes to Bakersfield College with an impressive background in college athletics and a passion for supporting student-athletes both on and off the field. Most recently, she served as the Director of Athletics at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where she led a department of 21 varsity sports, over 30 coaches and staff, and more than 450 student-athletes.

During her time at Rose-Hulman, Ayanna helped launch a new era for the athletics program. She was part of a $5.1 million facilities upgrade, oversaw multiple renovations, grew corporate partnerships, and played a key role in improving the student-athlete experience. Her leadership helped the department bring home 24 conference titles, including two Commissioner’s Cups in the last three years. And, in 2024, she was named the Nike Division III Executive of the Year by Women Leaders in Sports.

In her interim role, Tweedy will oversee the college’s athletic department, providing leadership across all programs and supporting student-athletes in their pursuit of academic, personal, and athletic achievement.
