Bakersfield College Hosts 110th Commencement Celebration

Bakersfield College celebrated its 110th Commencement on Friday, May 10th, 2024, with a remarkable milestone of 1,648 graduates. The event was streamed live on YouTube and attracted over 1,000 viewers from around the world. This year's commencement was particularly significant as it marked the first for newly appointed BC President, Dr. Jerry E. Fliger, and newly appointed Chancellor of KernCCD, Dr. Steven Bloomberg. Both made opening remarks at the ceremony, congratulating the Class of 2024 on their great accomplishment.

The ceremony included congratulatory speeches from faculty and administrators, while also encouraging graduates to fervently pursue their academic and career goals. The evening also included an inspiring speech from graduating student Johanna Guzman. She talked about her unique academic journey and offered motivational remarks to her classmates. The evening concluded with a dazzling firework show which created a magical atmosphere and a dramatic conclusion to the ceremony.

Bakersfield College's 110th Commencement was a monumental and memorable celebration and a testament to BC's commitment to excellence and student success. We look forward to hearing about the future accomplishments and achievements of this year’s graduating class. Congratulations Class of 2024!
