Special Announcement: Commencement 2022
Thursday, March 3, 2022
In a memo this morning to the campus community, Bakersfield College's President, Dr. Zav Dadabhoy, announced that BC's 108th Commencement Ceremony will take place in-person on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
Dear Colleagues:
I am delighted to announce that Bakersfield College's 108th Commencement Ceremony will be held as an in-person ceremony on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
We will celebrate the academic achievements of the Class of 2022, and also honor our promise to the classes of 2020 and 2021 by inviting them to join the celebrations in the recently renovated Memorial Stadium. This is our first commencement ceremony on campus since 2018, and marks the momentous occasion we have all been waiting for.
Within a few days, BC's Commencement Planning Team will release additional details, including the process to apply for graduation, how to purchase regalia, take graduation pictures and how graduates will receive tickets for a limited number of guests. While we are excited to return to an in-person commencement event, Bakersfield College remains committed to the health of our staff, students, and community members. To do this, our COVID Response Team will work together to ensure that this in-person event is a positive and safe experience for everyone.
I encourage all eligible students to submit their graduation petition as soon as possible. It is available on BC's graduation webpage. If students are unsure about their eligibility, please connect with BC's Student Information Desk, where a staff member would be happy to assist or they may connect with any counselor or advisor.

Our graduation ceremonies are special occasions, each filled with rich history and tradition. Like you, I am looking forward to standing in Memorial Stadium to celebrate our students' accomplishments. As we finish this semester, I would like to thank you for your continued patience, support, and participation in the protocols and processes which have enabled our campus to stay open for on-campus learning throughout the last two years.
Congratulations to this year's graduates.
I can't wait to see them and celebrate their accomplishments at Bakersfield College's in-person 108th Commencement.
