BC Student Discover Umoja Community in Summer Information Sessions
Thursday, May 14, 2020
Umoja Community at Bakersfield College is an academic and cultural program that offers African-American students on campus an opportunity to learn and grow in community with their peers. On Tuesday, May 12, Umoja Community coordinator and English Professor Dr. Paula Parks held an information session for continuing and incoming students to tell them all about the courses, resources, and fun activities that they could access being a part of Umoja. Fall courses available with an African-American focus include English 1a, History 20A, Communication 8, and Math 22.
Dr. Parks is hosting three more virtual information sessions in late May and June to get students involved in Umoja. For more information about these sessions, including how to participate, please email pparks@bakersfieldcollege.edu or text (661) 232-0191. You can also apply to become a member of Umoja right now on the Bakersfield College website.
