Bakersfield College's Levan Center for the Humanities proudly presents three new $1,500 scholarships for BC students creating work that demonstrates an academic interest in Hispanic or Native American peoples and culture. Submissions may take the form of: a research paper (e.g., in history, economics, the humanities, the sciences, nursing and beyond); a literary or film analysis; original music or a performance; or visual and multimedia artwork. All academic fields are invited to submit, whether its theoretical and applied or scholarly and creative. To allow for discussion, papers should be 2,000-3,000 words and music or multimedia should not exceed 20 minutes.

Submissions from all BC students are welcomed! Hispanic and Native American students are encouraged to submit, but such a background is not a requirement for submission.

Winners will be required to present their work in 40 minutes or less to the college community on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 6-9 PM in the Levan Center. Submissions and questions should be emailed to Reggie Williams, Director of BC's Levan Center for the Humanities, at rwilliam@bakersfieldcollege.edu.

Submissions are due at 5 PM on Friday, April 12. Finalists will be notified a week prior to the required presentations on April 25.
