Mike's Pass

Mike Mihalakis

Bakersfield College is proud to join with other California community colleges in enacting a program providing veterans returning to school with free parking passes.

The "Mike's Pass" movement began at San Luis Obispo's Cuesta College, where the institution started offering the free passes in memory of Army National Guardsman and Cuesta College student Mike Mihalakis. As Mike's story and word of Cuesta College's service spread across college campuses, it only seemed right for BC to join with its fellow schools, including Porterville College, where they started their own "Mike's Pass" program in fall 2014.

Now, you can give to BC's own Mike Mihalakis memorial campaign, providing BC veteran students with free parking.  We'd also like to thank our friends at Kern Schools Federal Credit Union, who generously donated the initial funds to get this program started here at BC.

Who's eligible?:

  • New veteran students may receive a free parking pass for their first semester based on need.

Students will need to see Armando Trujillo (armando.trujillo@bakersfieldcollege.edu) to fill out a request for a parking pass.

To Donate: Please make a tax-deductible donation to the Mike's Pass fund through the Bakersfield College Foundation.
