Military Tuition Assistance Checklist

For NEW Military Students

  1. Apply to Bakersfield College by filling out the Application for Admission to College (opencccapply.net)
  2. Contact and meet with your Educational Liaison Officer with your respective branch.
  3. After meeting with your Education Officer, they will inform you what courses are approved.

  5. Submit your Tuition Assistance Authorization Form to the Admissions & Records Office:

      1. Summer Office Hours: Monday-Thursday: 0730-1730, closed Friday.
      2. Normal Office Hours: Monday-Thursday: 0730-1730, Friday: 0800-1200.
  6. At the end of the semester, final grades will be posted to the appropriate military sites for all students using Tuition Assistance.
    1. Please allow up to three weeks after the end of the semester for grades to be posted.

** For General Information: Students utilizing Tuition Assistance will be added to the prospective contracts to have the enrollment fees paid for. Please allow up to 10 working days to process the authorization. **

For RETURNING Military Students

  1. Meet with your Educational Liaison Officer to discuss your approved courses.
  2. Register for your approved courses.
  3. Submit your Tuition Assistance Authorization Form to the Admissions & Records Office:

Resources for Active Military

TA Drop Policy

Bakersfield College will have an institutional policy that returns any unearned TA funds on proportional basis through the 60 percent portion of the period for which funds were provided. TA funds are earned proportionally during and enrollment period, with unearned funds returned based when a student stops attending.

For a 16 week course, withdrawal schedule is as follows:

  • Before or during weeks 1-2: 100% return
  • During weeks 3-4: 75% return
  • During weeks 5-8: 50% return
  • During week 9: 40% return (60% of course is completed)
  • During weeks 10-16: 0% return

For an 8 week course, withdrawal schedule will be as follows:

  • Before or during weeks 1: 100% return
  • During weeks 2: 75% return
  • During weeks 3-4: 50% return
  • During week 5: 40% return (60% of course is completed)
  • During weeks 6-8: 0% return
