The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a means through which academic credit may be given for nontraditional forms of educational experience, also known as credit by exam. Those who may have reached a college level of education through home or correspondence study, on-the-job training, television courses, military service, or other means may take the CLEP examinations which are offered by the College Entrance Examination Board. The list of subjects for which credit may be obtained by taking the CLEP is listed in the Bakersfield College Catalog.
CLEP exams are administered by appointment only.
NEW: Starting May 14, 2019, CLEP exams will be available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week. Students will need to make an appointment at least 24 hours in advance of the test date. To reserve a seat at either 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM or 2:30 PM students will need to submit the following to the Testing and Placement Center staff at CSS room 14: a complete BC CLEP registration form and a $25 test administration fee (non-refundable and paid to Bakersfield College with an exact cash, check, or money order).
Note: Dates are subject to change. Check with the Testing and Placement Center for any changes to the listed testing dates.
Find the CLEP credit policy for your college/university and decide which exams to take.
