MESA

MESA Community College Program (MCCP) is one of the country’s oldest programs that provides academic support to educationally disadvantaged students so they can excel in math and sciences studies and graduate with degrees in engineering, science and technology.

MCCP is a rigorous academic support program that strives to increase the number of educationally disadvantaged community college students who transfer to four-year institutions and earn a degree in math-based, science-based, engineering or computer science fields.

The MESA Center is located in the Science and Engineering building room 46.


Student Requirements

To be eligible for the program, a student must fit the following criteria:

  • Financial Disadvantage - Receiving some form of financial aid
    • FAFSA
    • BOGW
    • Other
  • Educational Disadvantage - Attending a low-test scoring high school
  • Pursue a STEM Field, such as:
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Engineering
    • Math
    • Physics
    • Any other STEM field *
    • * Note: Nursing Program is NOT considered a STEM field)

In addition, the program requires student involvement in one of the following activities per semester:

  • Academic Excellence workshop
  • MOW
  • Professional, Career Development Seminars
  • Capstone Projects

MCCP offers students book vouchers, scholarships, stipends, free tutoring, field trips to four-year colleges and industries repsective to students’ fields of study, industry internships and an environment for studying and networking.
