In response to COVID-19, services for the Renegade Room have been modified to address industry guidelines and protocols. Bakersfield College has implemented a mask requirement while inside of building. Of course our guests will remove their masks during their meal, but we ask when not seated at the table, please wear a mask. Our focus is to promote comprehensive practices while providing our customers and community nutritious goods. This provides real-time experience activities, preparing them for our current service industry accommodations. We will keep our information updated as necessary. Your continued support of our student culinarians during this time is greatly appreciated.
Bakersfield College has implimented a daily heath checker via our KCCD app that guests will need to complete before they enter campus. Once on campus, please scan the QR code at the Renegade Room. If you get a "red pass" on the KCCD app, unfortunately you will not be able to dine with us, but hopefully we will see you next time. Please visit our Campus Pass App page and find links on downloading the app, as well as a great tutorial on how to use it.
The Renegade Room Restaurant is a public restaurant operated by the students enrolled in the Foods and Nutrition Program. The program incorporates lessons in nutrition, cost control, supervision and management, baking, food production, dining room services and food service safety and sanitation.
These skill sets are then applied to hands-on training experiences in both the Kitchen and Dining Room Lab stations. Students are given production menus and schedules to prepare fresh meals, while others see to the Customer Service end of business waiting tables in the Renegade Room upon reopening.
