Clery Act Notification: Strong Armed Robbery to Business near Campus
A short time ago Bakersfield Police responded to a strong armed robbery to a business located at the corner of Mt. Vernon and Christmas Tree Lane. No weapons were involved. The suspect was last seen running east on Christmas Tree Lane carrying a cash register.
The suspect is described as:
Hispanic Male, late teens/early 20’s
Wearing a blue baseball cap, blue shirt, black shorts, medium build

Clery Act Notification: Attempted Abduction on Campus
A female student reported an incident on campus in which a Hispanic male pulled up next to her in a SUV. The male told the student to get into his vehicle. The student walked away from the vehicle and reported the incident to BC Public Safety. The vehicle was described as a white, older model SUV.
Similar suspicious circumstances have been reported in the neighborhoods surrounding the college.
Be aware of your surroundings at all times and report any suspicious activities to BC Public Safety at (661) 395-4554 or to the Bakersfield Police Department by calling 911 for an emergency when off campus. Always trust your instincts, and if you feel uneasy about a situation, get to a safe place, and call for help.
Clery Act Notification: Attempted Abduction on University Ave.
A short time ago, Public Safety was notified of an attempted abduction that occurred on University Ave.
A Hispanic Male driving an older model gold color Chevrolet pulled up to a female student, who had just exited her vehicle, and told her to get inside his car. The female ignored the male subject, and walked away towards a group of fellow students who then walked with her onto campus. The male subject then fled the scene.

Clery Act Notification: Sexual Assault Occurred in Fine Arts Women's Restroom with Suspect In Custody
Correction to Notification sent on May 15, 2017: "I would like to make a correction to the below notification that was sent out Thursday regarding the sexual assault that occurred on campus. The student who reported the incident to a faculty member stated she saw suspicious black male in the women’s restroom. Added on to the notification after that read, “with a possible victim”. This part was incorrect. The student only saw and reported a suspicious black male in the women’s restroom. Public Safety Officers responded and discovered the assault in progress. I wanted to ensure we are getting the correct information out to our community."
A BC student contacted a faculty member advising that she saw a suspicious black male in the women’s restroom with a possible victim. The staff member called and advised Public Safety of the student's concern. Two Public Safety Officers arrived on scene and discovered the sexual assault in progress. The suspect was taken into custody.
There is no continuing threat to the college community. Bakersfield Police were notified, arrived on scene and took over the investigation. The suspect has been arrested.
The college will continue to provide assistance to the victim. We want to thank the student who reported the suspicious activity, and the faculty member for getting involved! Their quick action led to assisting the victim and the apprehension of the suspect. Thank you! This is a great example of BC students and Staff working together to help keep our college community safe. Clery Act Notification: Strong Armed Robbery Solar Panel Parking Lot
At about 1:50 pm, a student reported to the Department of Public Safety that at about 1:35 pm while in the N/E student parking lot he was approached by a black male, 20 – 30 yrs. who exited a:
The male approached him and asked for money. The student opened his wallet and was going to give him a dollar when the suspect reached into his wallet and removed all his cash and fled the area south bound on Mt. Vernon Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was described as a black female 20 -30 years and a child was in the backseat.
Bakersfield Police have been notified and are taking over the investigation. If you see a vehicle matching this description please contact Public Safety at 395-4554 or the Bakersfield Police at 327-7111.
Clery Act Notification: Strong Arm Robbery at Fastrip Mt. Vernon Ave and University Ave
Bakersfield College Department of Public Safety was informed a short while ago of an incident that took place off campus at the Fastrip Store across the street from the campus on the corner of Mt. Vernon Ave and University Ave.
A BC student stated he was approached by a
Asking for money for gas. The suspect told the student that he was from out of town and needed money for gas to get home and that he had his kids in the car. The student stated he opened his wallet and removed the cash that was inside and was about to give him some money when the suspect reached out and grabbed all the cash. The male walked away from the student entered his vehicle and fled the area . The student contacted the Bakersfield Police Department and filed a strong armed robbery report.
If an individual approaches you matching this description on campus, do not stop and continue onward to a safe place and call Public Safety at 395-4554 or 911.
I am sending you this information to inform you of this incident and to caution you any time someone approaches you and asks you for money to be very cautious when dealing with individuals asking for money. Always report these types of incidents to Public Safety as soon as you can. We will attempt to locate them and see what they are doing on campus. If they are in need, we will provide them with information and locations they can seek assistance and remove them from campus.
Clery Act Notification: Arrest of Non-Student East of Campus Center
I want to inform you of an incident that occurred a short while ago.
At about 1:43 pm, Public Safety received a call stating a female was yelling at an unknown male to get away from her and leave her alone east of the Campus Center. Public Safety Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the female student and male non-student. The female stated the male had walked up to her and began talking to her. The female stated he then began to grope her private parts. The female said the male subject told her he was going to take her to a secluded area and rape her.
Public Safety Officers took the suspect into custody and transported him to the Public Safety Office and notified the Bakersfield Police to respond to our office.
After conducting their interviews the suspect was charged with the following offenses.
The suspect is in custody and is being booked into the Kern County Jail.
Clery Act Notification: False Threat of Bomb at GET Bus Stop North of Campus
I wanted to share you with an incident that occurred at about 11:35 this morning.
Public Safety received a call from the GET Dispatch Center stating one of their bus drivers had just informed them that an individual attempted to board a bus on the north side of campus and when he was refused due to him carrying a large plastic tub the male subject told the driver that he had a bomb.
As Public Safety Officers responded to the scene an additional Public Safety Officer was dispatched to the area to deny access to anyone walking towards the area until the situation was resolved. The Bakersfield Police department was notified via radio and responded as well. Officers were on scene in under a minute and the subject was detained. The college community was in no danger at any time. A search of the subject and his property revealed there was no bomb present.
Bakersfield Police are investigating the incident.
Clery Act Notification: Theft from student vehicle with arrest made (Non-Student)
A theft from vehicle in Administration parking lot today ended with the arrest of the suspect by Public Safety, Sr. Officer Marco Sifuentes.
Today at about 1:20 pm, Public Safety received a call of a white male adult walking through the administration parking lot pulling on door handles to vehicles. Sr. Officer Marco Sifuentes responded to the area. The reporting person called back and told him the subject had just entered a red vehicle. Sr. Officer Sifuentes arrived on scene and made contact with the subject who was still inside the vehicle. After determining the subject did not have a connection with the vehicle and admitting to stealing change from inside the vehicle he was taken into custody for theft from a vehicle, as opposed to vehicle burglary as there was no forced entry.
Bakersfield Police were called and when they arrived took custody of the suspect. During a search of the suspects property it was found he was in possession of a hypodermic needle which the suspect identified contained heroin.

Clery Act Notification: Indecent Exposure Main Campus
Two incidences of indecent exposure that occurred this evening were brought to the attention of the Department of Public Safety at about 7:21 pm. Prior to notifying the campus via email, all available officers on campus were actively searching the campus for the suspect.
At about 7:21 tonight, the Bakersfield Police Department notified the Department of Public Safety that an indecent exposure report was recently called into them that happened at about 4:50 pm. This incident occurred in the Humanities building. A male suspect;
White male adult, 20’s, Dirty Blonde Hair
Wearing tan pants and a Black/Gray sweater
exposed himself to a female student. The female student was walking through the courtyard of the building and when she got near the men’s restroom the male suspect was holding the door with his pants down exposing himself. The female fled the area and contact the Bakersfield Police Department.
Several minutes later, at about 7:25 pm, the Bakersfield Police Department re contacted the Department of Public Safety and advised a second incident had just been reported to them of a suspect matching the first incident, while in the north east parking lot (solar panel student parking lot) had pulled down his pants and exposed himself to another female student. The female student started walking to her vehicle and stated the male began to follow her. She entered her vehicle and fled the area and contacted the Bakersfield Police Department.
All Public Safety Officers on duty began a search of the suspect but as of this time have been unable to locate him.
Both female students acted as they should have by fleeing the area and once safe, contacting the Bakersfield Police Department. Always get to a safe place and then notify either the Bakersfield Police by calling 911 and once you have disconnected your call with 911 please immediately contact Public Safety by calling 395-4554. We have officers on campus and can immediately begin searching the area for the suspect.
These type of incidents can happen any place in the city of Bakersfield. Always be aware of your surroundings and notify the Bakersfield Police or the Department of Public Safety if you see a criminal act being committed or if you feel something isn’t right. Always trust your instincts.
