Gainful Employment Information

The Certificate of Achievement for Child Development Master Teacher - Special Education may be earned by taking the 27 units of child development courses required for the Child Development Teacher Certificate of Achievement and the following courses.

To Achieve the Certificate of Achievement
Upon completion of the following courses with at least a ‘C’ grade in each course, the student will be awarded a Child Development Master Teacher - Special Education Certificate of Achievement.

To Transfer Coursework
A minimum of 35 semester units in the major with a grade of ‘C’ or better while maintaining a minimum grade point average of at least 2.0 in all California State University transferable coursework.

Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will:

  • be able to articulate 12 units with California State University, Bakersfield.
  • acquire a teacher permit from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • meet all requirements for the Associate in Science degree in the major.
  • be able to receive a job as a master teacher in a publicly funded or private child development program.
  • have a pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
