Associate in Science in Environmental Science for Transfer

Environmental Science is the study of major global, regional and local environmental issues, impacts and potential solutions. This program explores the relationship between human actions, environmental impacts and effects on human populations. The Associate in Environmental Science for Transfer Degree will prepare students to meet the transfer requirements to apply for more than 100 degrees or majors at 22 CSUs. Students with these degrees will be prepared to pursue diverse careers in land management agencies, environmental policy, environmental review, sustainable energy efforts in both private and public sectors, outdoor recreation, government, environmental education, and nonprofit organizations.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

The successful student will be able to:

  • Identify and describe major global, regional and local environmental issues.
  • Using the scientific basis of major environmental issues, analyze and interpret quantitative data and visual representations of data to identify and evaluate potential solutions.
  • Show relationships between human actions and environmental issues and examine the impacts of environmental issues on human populations.

Requirements for AA-T or AS-T degrees:

The completion of 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including the following:

  • The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University – Breadth Requirements.
  • A minimum of 18 semester units in a major area of emphasis, as determined by the district.
  • The obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0.
  • The completion of all courses required for the major with a ‘C’ or better. A ‘P’ (Pass) grade is not acceptable for courses in the major.
