Certificate of Achievement

The program is designed to prepare students for entry level positions photography. The core learned disciplines are photography, photographic lighting, an understanding of the visual elements, exposure to art and design history, conceptual visual problem solving, and the production of a portfolio using industry-standard software and processes.

To achieve the Certificate of Achievement

Upon completion of the following courses with at least a “C” grade in each course, a student will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement in Photography.

Program Learning Outcomes

At the end of the program, students will demonstrate:

  • an understanding of the principles, elements, and language common to photography.
  • the ability to critique their own work, as well as the work of other students; and defend their creative choices verbally and in writing.
  • an understanding of a portfolio or “body of work”.
  • the ability to use industry standard raster imaging applications.
  • the ability to use lighting equipment, cameras and industry standard photographic equipment.
  • an understanding of historic and contemporary photographic practices.
