The William M Thomas Planetarium will show the newly-arrived show "Incoming!" on Thursday, February 16, from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. Doors will open 30 minutes before the show starts for seating and will be closed during the one-hour program with no late admittance. Tickets are available for $8/adults and $6/seniors and children 5-12 years old from the Bakersfield College Ticket Office  or online only (tickets will NOT be sold at the door). The BC Ticket Office is in Business Services (395-4326) and the William M Thomas Planetarium is on the second floor, northwest end of the Math-Science Building, Room 112. The map below shows you where the ticket office and the planetarium are. No food, drink, or gum/candy is allowed in the planetarium. Children must be 5 years or older.

The one-hour show will begin with a short tour of the evening sky using the planetarium's Goto Chronos star projector followed by the 25-minute all-dome presentation from the California Academy of Sciences called "Incoming!" using our Spitz SciDome projector. Asteroids and comets have collided with our planet throughout its history, changing the course of life on Earth and shaping the world we know today. Narrated by George Takei, "Incoming!" explores the past, present, and future of our Solar System and the landmark discoveries scientists have made sending spacecraft to visit tiny worlds. Cutting-edge visualizations bring real-time data from current NASA missions to life while taking audiences on a ride through the dynamic story of our cosmic origins. Along the way, audiences will discover what these impacts from above can teach us—and how scientific advances may allow us to find and track cosmic threats before they reach planet Earth.
