Bakersfield College’s Garden Fest has grown to become Bakersfield’s premier springtime garden event for seasoned green thumbs and novice gardeners alike. Garden Fest is an open house, featuring Bakersfield College’s Environmental Horticulture and Agriculture programs, and draws thousands of visitors annually. Events scheduled for this year’s Bakersfield College Garden Fest include country garden seminars, industry professionals providing valuable tips and information on gardening, floral design, pet care, cooking, and more. Learn about gardening at the Garden Fest seminars at the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) Country Garden Stage featuring The Country Garden Radio program from KERN 1180AM radio with a live radio broadcast beginning at 8 - 10 a.m. The interactive Garden Fest seminars are hosted by Bakersfield College's Plant Professor, Professor Lindsay Ono and landscape industry professional The Sultan of Sod, Dale Edwards from Old River Sod. The Country Garden duo will make you laugh and learn and they will be joined in the seminars by industry professionals to demonstrate and talk gardening and answering your questions. Don’t miss a crowd favorite segment called, Grilling with the Chef. This is an interactive demonstration on grilling meats and vegetables with Bakersfield College’s Chef Patrick Coyle. The Chef will be using fresh produce selected that day from the Renegade Ranch Farmer’s Market and the best part will be the interactive participation of taste testing the results.
