The Bakersfield College Fire Technology program has announced a completely compliant accreditation review by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Accreditation Programs (CAAHEP) following a review of the program’s submitted annual report. The results were announced on March 14.
Each year, Bakersfield College’s Fire Technology program is required to submit an annual report which includes program information, results of a self-directed outcomes assessment, and the program’s analyses and action plans to address any areas of improvement revealed during the outcomes assessment. As a result, Bakersfield College has been notified all outcomes were met, and the program is fully accredited for the next year.
Bakersfield College’s Regional Fire Technology Academy (RFTA) was authorized by the California Fire Service Training and Education System in 1980, with programs of study leading to Certified Fire and Certified Fire Chief. RFTA sponsors many cooperative training programs with federal, state, and local fire protection agencies. Individuals may develop a program suitable to their career goals with the aid of a college counselor. Courses may lead to the achievement of specific career goals, immediate employment, an associate degree, or transfer credits that satisfy requirements for a bachelor’s degree in Fire Technology.
Students who enter the Fire Technology program at Bakersfield College receive the education and support that is important for success. Each student will gain knowledge and skills needed to become a firefighter, gain employment in the public or private sector fire service, achieve career promotions, receive a degree or gain California State certifications.
The mission of the Department of Fire Technology Department is to reduce the burden of fire losses on life, property and the environment, by providing the highest quality of fire science-based education, research and outreach in the fire service, and in fire-related safety, health and environmental issues.
