Are you working toward your AA or AS degree and need a class to fulfill your math requirement? Two sections are open for TECM B52: Mathematics for Career Education, a course intended for students who aren't going to transfer to a four-year university to complete their Local B.2 General Education Math requirement. A math placement test is not required to enroll in this course. More information about TECM B52 is included below.
Students will make connections between mathematics and various aspects of modern life, including career skills. Students will use tools (including spreadsheets) to examine and evaluate numerical information.
Covers the skills and tools (including technology) needed to think critically about quantitative information encountered in daily life. Emphasis on solving real-world problems utilizing open-ended exercises that involve reading, analyzing, calculating, and clearly reporting results. Topics include: using numbers in the real world; financial literacy; statistics; probability; linear and exponential modeling. This course explores connections between mathematics and various facets of modern life.
