BC's Social Justice Institute and the National Endowment for the Humanities present a talk from Dr. Shawn Schwaller, a professor of Chicanx/Latinx studies at California State University, Chico.
Dr. Shawn Schwaller is a lecturer in the Department of History at California State University, Chico. He teaches History 135/Chicanx/Latinx Studies 135: Mexican Heritage in the U.S. as well as other courses. He previously taught for the departments of American, ethnic, and liberal studies as well as history at California State University, Fullerton and the department of history at University of California, Irvine. He obtained a B.A. in sociology, M.A. in American Studies and a PhD. in history. Schwaller’s research, generally speaking, engages twentieth century U.S. and California history, identity politics, race and ethnic relations, and popular culture. He is currently researching and writing about social problems in California’s Republican spaces.
