Bakersfield Mayor Karen Goh, professors Nicole Carrasco and Jeannie Kraybill, and BC LUPE President Edith Mata present a discussion about suffrage on the centennial anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. This event is brought to you in collaboration with the Levan Center for the Humanities and BC's Women's History and More (WHAM) Committee.
Panelists will explore the role of women in politics, historical challenges to women obtaining and exercising the right to vote, and contemporary obstacles women face related to political empowerment. We will also be handing out voter registration forms in an effort to encourage civic participation.
