Yale Ph.D. candidate and journalist Hilary Matfess presents her research on portrayals of women during conflict and how depicting them as uniformly innocent victims overlooks women's wartime roles and contributions to conflict. Her book "Women and the War on Boko Haram" draws on Matfess' several trips to North East Nigeria and discusses women's roles in the Boko Haram insurgency.
