While Bakersfield College remains open to the public in virtual settings, ALL physical campus locations are currently closed to the in-person public.
Students: If you need help, please talk to an expert in our Student Information Desk. BC is primarily online for Spring 2021 and we are continuing to plan though effective policies to keep our campus community safe. Find more information on our COVID-19 webpage.
Staff: If you have need to enter the main Panorama campus, please coordinate with your supervisor. The entraces at Haley St. (Admin Way) and at Mt. Vernon Ave. across from Valley Strong Credit Union (Red & White Way) are accessible. You may need to contact College Safety at (661) 395-4554 to obtain access to buildings and offices.
College Safety Officers are on duty and continue to help keep the campus community safe. Due to physical campus closures, staffing has been modified.
Cart service is not available during the physical campus closure.
Bakersfield College is a dynamic hub for diverse communities. The College Safety department facilitates the support of a safe and secure environment in our pursuit to provide educational opportunities and valuable life skills to our students, faculty, and staff. College Safety provides security, safety training, emergency response, and parking enforcement for all of our campus locations.
Our trained security officers have received a minimum certification in meeting the requirements of California Penal Code 832 by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards & Training. They are trained and certified by the California Bureau of Security & Investigative Services to meet the requirements set forth in California Education Code 67381.
College Safety Officers receive continual professional training in first aid, CPR, emergency response, disaster preparedness, safety, and security. Upon employment, they also complete the Bakersfield College Field Training Officer program.
Our Student Cadets provide a range of foundational department services like parking permit management, driving our mobility carts, student dispatch, assistance with our Officers, and more. Cadets receive a variety of training throughout the year and they have the unique opportunity to experience and learn about work in the Public Safety field.
