CAMPUS IS CLEAR.
After a full campus search, conducted by the Bakersfield Police Department working alongside Bakersfield College's College Safety, the threat has been found unsubstantiated. Out of an abundance of caution, classes scheduled to take place in-person on campus for the remainder of the day were canceled. In-person classes on the Panorama campus will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, July 28.
A bomb threat has been received by BPD. If you are on or near the Panorama campus, evacuate immediately. Additional information will be posted on the BC website as it is available.

Updated description of suspects from shots fired incident at Haley St and University Ave on 08/17/21:
A short time ago, 2 armed male suspects were involved in a verbal exchange with individuals in the free parking lot (P16) at the corner of University Ave and Haley St.
The suspects were in an early 2000's light green Ford Focus. They revealed a handgun, fired approximately 3 shots (which struck a vehicle heading westbound on University Ave), and fled the scene. At this time, there is no immediate threat to the campus. Bakersfield Police Department is responding to the report.

Update: Campus is all clear to return to buildings. PG&E has confirmed that all buildings on the Panorama Campus are clear for staff, faculty, and students to return. All face-to-face classes on the Panorama campus may resume instruction effective immediately.
The identified gas lead has been shut off. PG&E is on campus and we will have another update out shortly.
There is a possible gas leak identified in the Campus Center/CSS Building. These locations are to evacuate until further notice. If you are not in the area, please stay clear. Information will be provided as it is available.
