Bakersfield College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The ACCJC is one of the six regional accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. In 2014 the Accrediting Commission adopted revised Eligibility Requirements and Accreditation Standards with specific annotations addressing baccalaureate degrees and published a Policy of Accreditation of Baccalaureate Degrees in July 2016.
1. Authority:The institution is authorized or licensed to operate as a post-secondary educational institution and to award degrees by an appropriate governmental organization or agency as required by each of the jurisdictions or regions in which it operates.
