2012-2013 Pell Grant Payment Information

Pell Grant is a federally funded program providing funds to help undergraduate students pay their college expenses. Yearly awards range from $602 - $5550 and do not need to be repaid. All Bakersfield College financial aid applicants are required to apply for a Pell Grant as a condition for receiving campus-based financial aid.

Pell Grant eligibility is based upon financial need, which is determined through the use of a standard formula developed by Congress. Students receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) that indicates their eligibility. An application to determine Pell Grant eligibility must be submitted each year.

  • To apply for a Pell Grant, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Submit your application as early as possible, but no earlier than January 1, 2012.
  • The Pell grant deadline for 2012-2013 is June 30, 2013.
  • The Office of Financial Aid must have your correct complete information by your last date of enrollment in each school year.
