| A: | The BC school code is 001118. A complete list of federal school codes is available on the FAFSA website. | |
| Q: | Do I have to wait for admission to BC before applying for financial aid? | |

| Q: | What types of financial aid are offered? | |
| A: | BC participates in federal and state aid programs, such as the Federal Pell Grant, Federal SEOG, Federal Work Study, federal loans, Cal Grants A, B and C and other state programs. We also offer scholarships for continuing and transferring students and for high school seniors. | |
| Q: | How do I apply for financial aid? | |
| A: | Fill out and submit a FAFSA form. For Cal Grants, you must also submit a verified grade point average by March 2nd (or by September 2nd, if you are a community college student). For more detailed information, see How to Apply. | |
| Q: | How do I apply for loans? | |
| A: | Federal student loans are part of a financial aid award. To apply you must first complete the FAFSA. To submit a request for a loan, students must submit an additional separate loan application after receiving the initial award letter. For further information, contact a Financial Aid Technician. | |
| Q: | How do I apply for Work Study? | |
| A: | To apply you must complete the FAFSA form. Because work study funds are limited, we recommend that you submit a FAFSA no later than March 2nd. If funds are available, you will receive a work study offer up to the amount of your eligibility. | |
| Q: | How do I apply for scholarships? | |
| A: | BC offers a wide variety of scholarships for continuing or transferring students, as well as for high school seniors. BC Scholarship applications are available in late August each year. | Q: | What is the deadline for completing the FAFSA? | |
| A: | The priority deadline is March 2nd for each academic year for state programs. FAFSA's may still be submitted after that date for federal aid, but you will not be considered for CalGrant entitlement programs. For community college students only, there is an extended deadline of September 2nd for competitive CalGrants. See FAFSA deadlines for federal, state and school programs. | |
| Q: | Do I have to reapply for financial aid every year? | |
| A: | Yes. Beginning January 1st each year, you must submit a Renewal FAFSA for the following academic year. | |
| Q: | How will I be notified about my financial aid? | |
| A: | Once the Office of Financial Aid determines eligibility for the various financial aid programs, the student will be sent a Financial Aid award letter. The award letter will be sent to the address that is on file with the BC Admissions Office. Payment instructions will be included. | |
| Q: | How are financial aid payments made? | |
| A: | Financial aid payments are made by check and are mailed to the address that is on file with the BC Admissions Office. Scholarships are paid once each semester. Refer to the Timeline page for specific payment dates. | |

| A: | If you are a California resident and have demonstrated financial need, you may qualify for the Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGFW). This waiver will allow you to register without paying the enrollment fees. The fee waiver does not include the Student Representation fee. You must apply for the fee waiver before you register for classes to avoid being dropped for non-payment.. The BOGFW application is available on the Forms page. | |
| Q: | What is satisfactory academic progress for financial aid eligibility? | |
