Josue’ is starting his second year of coaching at Bakersfield College. Valenzuela is no stranger to junior college basketball. He began his coaching career at DeAnza College in Cupertino, Ca. He coached under California Community College Hall of Fame Coach, Frank Carbajal. Valenzuela then became head basketball coach for six years at Wilcox High School in San Jose, Ca. After relocating to Bakersfield, he then took over as head basketball coach at West High School for one year. Valenzuela is currently a physical education instructor at West High School. Valenzuela received his Bachelor of Science and teaching credential from San Jose State University and completed his Masters in physical education from St. Mary’s College. Coach Valenzuela and his wife, Ceci, are the proud parents of Bianca (6) and Isabella (3). Hughes on Valenzuela, “I am excited to add Coach V to our staff. He brings a lot of experience to our staff. He is very motivated to coach at this level and I am excited to work with him.” |
