Concurrent enrollment at Bakersfield College is a smart choice for high school students because it makes higher education available at a place where an excellent education is convenient and affordable. This is particularly valuable for students who don’t want to wait until they graduate from high school to begin taking college classes that are transferable to a four-year institution.
High school students may take college level (degree applicable) classes on a seats-available basis with permission from a parent and their high school principals. Non-degree applicable courses (such as Academic Development classes, Math BA, or Engl B50) are not permitted. High school students need to complete the matriculation process – Admission/update, Orientation, Assessment, and Counseling – in order to register during open web registration.
Before high school students can register they must complete the Admission/Update form.
Concurrent students may complete the orientation online at our Counseling web site or in person by checking the orientation dates in our class schedule on our web site.
The assessment test schedule can be found in the current class schedule on our web site. Please bring the following items with you to the test:
The last step for full matriculation is seeing a counselor or advisor. Call 395-4421 after completing the assessment test for an appointment or the current drop-in schedule. The counselor will review the assessment scores. You will need to bring your concurrent form and high school transcript to the appointment.
Bring your completed Concurrent Enrollment Form to the Office of Admissions and Records. If all the matriculation steps have been completed, you will be cleared to register for class seven days after the start of open registration.
If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions & Records office at (661) 395-4301.
