Prerequisite: MATH B60 or Equivalent intro-Algebra with a grade of C or better Mathematics - 1 Level Prior to Transfer Topics for the course are functions and operations on functions; system of linear equations, linear, and absolute value inequalities; linear, absolute value, and quadratic equations; radicals and operations with radicals; equations involving radicals; exponential and logarithmic equations; and conic sections. Note for 71537: This course is a combination on-line and on-campus course. STUDENTS SHOULD COME TO CAMPUS TO ATTEND AN ORIENTATION SESSION. Instructor approval is required, students should call 661-395-4530 for more information. Students are required to come to the Math Learning Center at Bakersfield College monthly during the semester for testing. The course is taught using an Internet-based program called ALEKS. Students may go to http://www.aleks.com for a free 24-hour trial. Instructor support is available at the Math Learning Center (SS140) at Bakersfield College from 8:30 a.m. - 5:50 p.m. Monday and Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. - 6:50 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesdays and on Friday 8:30am-12:20 p.m.. Students are encouraged to come into the Math Lab to work, but they are not required to do so.
